The Vietnam War was the random invasion of North Vietnam by the U.S. in 1964. For years, Vietnam was being influenced by the USSR to become communist. Fearing this, LBJ made up a story of a U.S. ship being attacked in the Gulf of Tonkin. From there, Americans invaded and fought the NVA and Viet Cong in a war. The Vietnamese showed their true potential in 1968's Tet Offensive. America lost the war, and Saigon was captured by North Vietnam to become one communist nation.
